Every spring, I look forward to Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival. If you’ve never been, the entire park gets an incredible makeover and filled with thousands and thousands of flowers. There are character topiaries, special food booths in each country, and exclusive events during the festival.
The park is at it’s most beautiful this time of year. It just fills my little nerd heart with joy to be surrounded by so many colorful flowers. I only went twice this year since it’s hard to have time now that I have a job, which is kind of a bummer. But just last week we headed over to say goodbye to the festival and it was a perfect day, so I thought I’d share some photos!
First of all, we didn’t get stuck in traffic and we managed to get a decent parking spot which never happens nearing the end of any event. We were expecting it to be packed, but the crowds were pretty mild. The forecast also called for thunderstorms, but it was bright and sunny the whole time! It was just one of those ideal days where you luck out and everything goes well.
It was already getting late in the afternoon once we got there, so we stopped real quick to get our free passholder magnet. My mom was super stoked about this because it was the first time they offered a Minnie version. The passholder freebies aren’t anything incredible, but they’re cute and I’m all for anything free.
We wandered our way through the different countries, checking out all the different menus and exploring the shops. The merch doesn’t change all that often, but I always love looking at all of it! I’m too poor for Disney prices, so I have to appreciate all the cute mugs and clothes while I’m there. There was a bunch of merch for the event that I loved, too. I saw an adorable spirit jersey, but I never found it in my size. There were also a few travel mugs I almost caved and bought and a special pair of Minnie ears that I was obsessed with. One day when I’m rich, I’m just going to park hop and buy all of the things.
I was too hungry and excited to eat to take pictures of the food I tried. Oops. I got some really good beef tenderloin tips in mashed potatoes in Canada and some spicy chicken in Morocco! My brother and I also got some Kung Fu Punch in China, which is Vodka, Triple Sec, mango juice and orange juice. It’s one of the only alcoholic drinks I’ve ever liked, and I think it’s only because it just tastes like juice.
Honestly, we didn’t do much. Sometimes it’s nice to just have a relaxed day without worrying about times and long lines. Epcot is a good park to go to if you just feel like wandering and hanging out because you really never have to wait for anything if you don’t want to. It’s so easy to just walk around and shop or stumble onto a show.
Epcot holds a special place in my heart for a lot of reasons. It was the very first park I ever visited. It’s super accessible and I never feel like I’m missing out when I’m there. Plus, as someone who wants to travel more than anything but can’t, it’s fun to get to play pretend for a few hours!
I’m so happy that I was able to have another Flower and Garden day before the festival ended. I already can’t wait for it to come back next year!
