Looking to stay healthy? Start with the simple stuff!
Watch what you’re eating
I’m not going to start preaching about a gluten free or no carb diet because I’ll never be that girl. But, one of the first things you should consider is what you’re actually putting into your body. Make sure that you’re thinking about what you should eat rather than just what you’re hungry for. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you suddenly have to start starving yourself in order to stay healthy.
The truth is that it’s not how much you’re eating that matters, but what you’re eating. A healthy diet isn’t about losing weight; it’s about giving your body all of the things that it really needs to function properly. This means that your diet needs to be as balanced as possible. Going too far in either direction, whether that’s going on a pizza bender or exclusively eating plain salads, is just going to make it harder to stay healthy.
An active lifestyle is an incredibly important one. Of course, not everyone is going to be in a position to stay active in the same way as others. Not everyone is able to go for a run or head to the gym every day. However, there are always things that you can do to stay active, not just physically but mentally as well. Get out into the world, do interesting things, develop hobbies and passions, anything to get you out into the world!
Speak to professionals
If you’re able to, you should definitely go for regular check-ups at your doctor and local dentist so that you can help maintain your health. A lot of people, myself included, are kind of reluctant to make an appointment. Doctors can cause a great deal of anxiety in a lot of people. Still, if you’re lucky enough to have insurance or the ability to afford healthcare, take advantage of that opportunity! It’s easy to be stubborn, but it’s better for you to get help when you need it.
I know that a lot of this advice might seem ridiculously obvious to some people. But the reality is that a lot of us become so fixated on finding some kind of trick or hack to getting healthy that we forget that the most important thing is just to keep things simple and focus on the basics!
