My life at the moment | A chatty little update in April
My friends and I were all obsessed with Xanga in middle school? Does anyone else remember Xanga? I feel like most people were on Livejournal, but I could never get the hang of it. Anyway, we’d all log on and write about our boring, 12 year old lives. Huge, long posts about school, what teacher gave the worst assignment, who was going out with who. You know, the generic kid stuff, with a healthy dose of angst of course.
It was silly, for sure. I know that was back when I was the only kid who was still afraid to ever say a Bad Word, so “oh my gosh” was the crudest thing I wrote at the time. It was fun, though. I miss writing without planning so much sometimes. Writing just because it’s fun to ramble and talk about your life, to tell people what you’ve been up to – without worrying whether or not people care!
I felt like sharing what I’ve been up to… so that’s what I’m doing!
Last month, my aunt came to visit. Her name is Amy, but I call her Louis. Growing up, my mom’s nickname was Boo and at some point her sister was Lou. I don’t really know, it’s just kind of stuck. Plus, it kind of annoys her so I’m even more adamant about it. Anyway, she’s the only family I really have any contact with aside from a Facebook comment here or there. She stayed with us for a week, but we all got SO sick and ended up quietly sitting together in my living room watching tv and trying not to die. I discovered Fluke is on Hulu, though! Most people I meet have never even heard of Fluke, but that movie was a massive part of my childhood so I was stoked.
We did manage to get out and do some fun things while she was here, though. We went to Lake Eola for the farmers market, which I always love. I know I mention Eola constantly, but it’s genuinely one of my all time favorite places. It’s so pretty, there’s always tons of dogs to meet. There are squirrels and ducks and swans everywhere you look. It’s got two things I absolutely love – water and the city. The lake has a big fountain, there are turtles everywhere. All around the water is the city of Orlando, a place that gave me immense comfort and has felt like home since I first saw it. Sappiness over, for now at least. I’m sure I’ll gush about Orlando again soon.
Anyway, every Sunday they have this big farmers market. There are arts and crafts booths, plants and flowers, clothing, food, fresh fruits and veggies, puppies to adopt, everything. It’s a really nice way to spend the afternoon and it was the perfect way to start our week. If you’re thinking of visiting Orlando, I’d definitely recommend it!
Once Monday came, I had to go to work (blah) but it wasn’t so bad. Shifts go by a lot faster for me if I have something to look forward to afterward. Tuesday I had to call out because my mom was way too sick to drive me and Wednesday I had to go in a few hours late because then I was way too sick. Our apartment was basically a plague box. That week I learned that I was officially extended, though! I might’ve been dying, but that was a huge relief. I now have until September before I need to worry about my job again.
That Friday we went to Epcot! We’ve been talking about taking my aunt for the Flower and Garden festival for years, so I was really glad we finally got to do that. I was especially happy for my mom because I know how much she wanted to do that.
Honestly, it would’ve been a little better if we weren’t all sick but I still had a really nice time. Canada has some bangin beef tips with mashed potatoes, and while it’s not the most special snack or anything unique I can always jam to some mashed potatoes. I’m hoping to go back for the Flower and Garden festival again at least one more time, so hopefully, I’ll have a whole post about it soon!
So, that’s been my life lately. I think I’m going to start doing posts like this every once in a while. It’s fun to have something like this to look back on later, and I always love reading posts like this from other bloggers. It just feels cozy to me, like you’re talking to a friend or hearing from a penpal. Let me know what you think!
Talk to you all again soon ♡
Sidenote – I’ve made a little Facebook page, and it’s still super new, but I’m hoping to use it more! If you’d like to be updated when I post or want to send me a message/suggest a topic/tell me my posts are terrible, feel free to give that page a like. I don’t know, I’m terrible at promoting things but It’s there if you’re interested!
