February 2020 highlights
Happy leap year day! Today is the last day of February 2020 but because it’s the 29th it feels like a bonus. And it also means that it’s time I write my highlights of the month, so hey, you’re reading this now so I actually did the thing and wrote a new post! Ticking that off as a win for past me.
This month has felt a little chaotic for me. Work has been… a lot. I mean my job isn’t hard necessarily, but it’s definitely been busy and I’ve worked a lot of extra hours trying to get things done on time. My brain has been fried for the past two weeks and that kind of left me with 3 posts that are 75% complete and waiting for me to come back to finish them. They’re coming soon, I promise!
Anyway, most of February has felt like a blur but there were definitely some good moments worth mentioning:
First of all, and I can’t believe I’m typing this, but I got tickets to see BTS in May.
I’ve been trash for Bangtan for 7 years now. My friend introduced me to them just a couple months after their debut and I fell in love hard and fast, like I do with basically anything else. I always avoided kpop thinking that I couldn’t enjoy music I didn’t understand but I’m not sure I’ve ever been more wrong about anything else ever. We used to stay up late so we could stream Korean music shows since it was our only way to watch them perform ‘live’. When I wanted to buy their albums I had to pay to ship it over here and then wait like 3 or more weeks for it to show up, which was fine, but now their albums are at Target and that will never not blow my mind. Like I actually have a hard time comprehending it.
Anyway, I love BTS and their music means a heck of a lot to me for a lot of reasons. I got into them when I was still in college so it’s gotten me through a lot of bad days and life changes. My friend who introduced me to them is going to the show with me and it’s going to be a ridiculous amount of fun.
Still on the BTS train – their new album dropped!
It’s called Map of the Soul: 7 and I very much recommend it. It’s on spotify and full of bops. One of my favorite things about them is that 7 years of listening and their music can still surprise me. And there’s always something for any mood, which is great because my moods change faster than Florida’s weather. They have more hip hop/rap centric songs and others that are straight pop and some funky slow jams, too. 14/10 – I definitely recommend.
The language barrier thing throws people off, it used to throw me off too, but music goes beyond just understanding the lyrics. Plus, there are translations available if you want them. I’m rambling now but good music is just good music, and I’m so proud of how far these boys have come. They’re kind of taking over the world now?
I had another Disney day
We made it back to Epcot for Festival of the Arts one more time before it ended and that was fun. It was a bit of a spontaneous trip but I met Donald and showed him my Donald leggings and bag because yes, I am a Donald Duck stan. He’s grumpy and hates wearing pants and I can relate (but also I just think he’s heckin’ cute).
My family bought new living room furniture
Okay, this one might not be all that exciting or interesting to anyone but us but we have a new couch and chair for our living room. It’s a big deal because for the first time in over 15 years I can actually sit on our furniture. Our old couch was low to the ground, so once I was too tall/heavy for my mom to carry, I couldn’t sit on it. I use a hoyer lift, and it couldn’t fit underneath.
It’s not a huge deal, clearly I’ve been fine to stay in my chair all these years. Still, being able to lay on a comfy couch and watch a movie or actually sit right next to someone under a blanket is a luxury I think a lot people probably take for granted. Also it’s real great for snuggling pets.
That’s pretty much been my February in a nutshell!
It’s honestly been a quiet few weeks, just picture me in pajamas scrolling through spreadsheets for hour with a stressed out look on my face and you’ll have a good idea what it’s been like. February did bring me some happy days, though, and if anything it’s made me excited to see what else 2020 has in store for me.
